Winter Camp Recap

Winter Camp 2012 was amazing. On all levels a total success!
We prayed for snow since this winter was a dry one and a couple of weeks before camp, a nice layer was provided. And the night before we hit the slopes, it dumped snow. The rest of the week was clear, sunny, and we rejoiced that our prayers had been answered!
The kids had a fantastic week with many saying it was the best of their life. Wow. That is when you know you are providing something unique and what their hearts are longing for. We talked about "180s" all week and how just like doing a 180 in snowboarding, our lives have turning points too. They were asking lots of questions about this and even asking other staff to share their 180 stories about turning to God. Big FUN was our goal for evening activities and seeing kids let loose does the heart good. One night had an impromptu dance party and slowly more and more kids were joining in as they realized it was safe to let go. A few of the 180 talks mentioned the emptiness of alcohol, drugs, partying and we didn't just talk about having fun with out those things, we experienced it.

  1. I love the "180" talks. Awesome!
The dance party sounds super fun, too. :) Winter retreats are a blast. I remember going on one when I was in high school and really enjoying it, learning a lot and having fun.
The snow is gorgeous there! :)
