I spent part of this Easter Weekend with one of my girls and her family! On Saturday afternoon, I went with Neza and her mom to the local Catholic church with the food for Easter breakfast. Each year there is a special service where the priest blesses the food which is symbolic of Jesus' death. Eggs:tears. Bread:body. Ham:meat of the body. Horseradish:nails. It was a short traditional service and packed with families. The next morning, we ate the food together. Yummy! It was a very relaxed time and I felt very welcomed by them. Later on, I went to my church to celebrate Jesus' resurrection with my spiritual family. He is ALIVE!

What interesting traditions they have at that Catholic church. I've never heard of those foods as being symbols of something. Fascinating! :) Thanks for sharing about those neat cultural aspects of life!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a wonderful Easter, Stephanie!
